Where do you go on a Wednesday night in Tega Cay, and is it the same place you'd go on Friday, October 16? Before this year the answer was usually a drive out of town. In 2026 the answer depends on what kind of night you want. Two new rooms opened within about two months of each other, and they're built on different schedules. One has something on every week. The other sells tickets for dated events. The City of Tega Cay's free calendar fills in the space between them.
October is the first fall when all three are running at once, so the pattern is easy to see.
Stonecrest Runs on a Weekly Loop
Velvet Coupe Wine Bar opened in February in the Stonecrest center at 1177 Stonecrest Blvd. Its calendar repeats week after week, so you can plan a regular night there without checking the date first. The bar's own event listings lay out the week like this:
- Monday: Mahjong Mondays, guided play for people who already have some Mahjong experience. Walk-ins are welcome when there's space.
- Wednesday: Music Bingo, built on 30-second song clips from different genres and decades. It's free, and the prizes are gift certificates. No ticket needed.
- Friday and Saturday: live music.
- Sunday: Sunday Supper at 5 p.m., plus guided yoga at 10:30 a.m. on select Sundays, with a glass of wine afterward on the house.
The bar's hours run Sunday noon to 9, Monday 3 to 9, Tuesday through Thursday 3 to 10, Friday 2 to 11 and Saturday noon to 11. Those are late hours for a part of town that has mostly gone quiet after dinner.
Sunday Supper is the event that got Velvet Coupe written up. A Fort Mill Sun reviewer went on July 26 and paid a flat $25 for five plates. The chef came out before each course to explain it, and wine pairings cost extra. The review ends with this line:
"I went on July 26 and left convinced this is the most interesting thing happening in Tega Cay on a Sunday evening."
The format may have changed since that visit. The bar's events page now describes Sunday Supper as a 90-minute dinner of three chef-selected plates, with a menu that changes each week. Check the ticket page before you go, especially if you're counting on the five-course version from the summer review.
Velvet Coupe does run some special events. Uncorked Comedy and dueling-piano nights appear on its calendar on select dates. This month's comedy night is Saturday, October 10, with Chris Monds, Brian McGuinness and Paul Snyder. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., the show starts by 7:30, and it's 21 and over. The night before, Anthony Kennedy plays live piano from 7 to 9. Still, the weekly schedule is what makes Velvet Coupe a regular stop. The ticketed shows are extras.
The Old Shore Club Runs on Dated Tickets
Head to the other end of town, by the lake and the golf course, and the schedule works differently. The Garrison opened April 15 in the former Shore Club space at 15083 Molokai Drive. It's the Tega Cay outpost of a Pineville restaurant whose owner also runs Margaux's next door there. The Tega Cay menu combines The Garrison's original menu with Margaux's pizzas.
Owner Kevin Devanney explained what he wanted the room to be in a Tega Cay Sun interview in October 2025, months before opening: "We want to create a vibe that welcomes everyone. Whether that's a date night or parents that just want to get away from their kids for a few hours." That same interview said The Garrison would take over the lease on the Shore Club space, and that Devanney planned updates to the Glennon Center and intended to market it for weddings and other events.
That events space explains The Garrison's schedule. The restaurant's site describes the Glennon as more than 6,300 square feet of event space, with an outdoor deck overlooking the golf course and the Charlotte skyline. With that much room, The Garrison can host bigger, ticketed nights that a small wine bar can't. In September it held a five-course French wine dinner led by Justin Frederico of Advintage Distributing. Next up is Dueling Pianos at The Glennon on Friday, October 16, from 7 to 10 p.m. The ticket includes a buffet, taxes and gratuity, and there's a cash bar. It's 21 and over. Tickets are listed at $60.
Before opening, The Garrison talked about weekend brunch, Friday and Saturday music, garage doors opening onto the deck, and possibly delivering by golf cart. Those were plans from October 2025. Call the restaurant or check its current listings before building an evening around any of them.
So both ends of town have a piano night this month. At Velvet Coupe it's one more event in a regular week. At The Garrison it's a planned evening in a dedicated event space, with dinner included in the ticket.
The City Covers the Free Nights, and This Month's Concert Is at Catawba Park
The city calendar handles what neither business does: free outdoor events for all ages. This year's concert series also switches parks for its last date, which is easy to miss. The city's 2026 schedule put the June 13 and August 8 Music in the Park concerts at Runde Park and the October 10 finale at Catawba Park.
The details are in the city's September 28 notice. The concert is at Catawba Park, 2351 New Gray Rock Rd., with parking at the park and no shuttle. Food and beer vendors open at 6:30 p.m., music starts at 7, and the city suggests bringing chairs or blankets. Crystal Aria is the headliner, and the city's calendar runs the event until 10 p.m. The notice lists these food vendors: Loaded Baked Potato, King of Fire, Maki Taco, Sal's Roadside Eatery, Say Cheese 518, Wilbur's Last Ride, Abbott's of Tega Cay, Pelican's Snoballs, Pack 250 Cub Scouts Popcorn and Spin Theory.
Catawba Park hosted Catawba Fest on September 26, and the city advertised a 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. day of vendors, live entertainment and food. With the concert finale following two weeks later, the park on New Gray Rock Road has two of the city's last big outdoor gatherings of the season, after a summer of concerts at Runde Park.
Saturday, October 10, Happens on Both Ends of Town
October 10 has events at both ends of Tega Cay and one road project in between. Here's the evening in order:
- During the day: It's the target finish date for the new roundabout at Stonecrest Boulevard and Ledgestone Court. Work started September 1, with temporary signals and daytime traffic control. The August 27 notice gave October 10 as an expected completion date, so leave room for the work zone to still be there.
- 6:30 p.m.: Food and beer vendors open at Catawba Park. Doors also open for Uncorked Comedy at Velvet Coupe.
- 7:00 p.m.: Crystal Aria starts at Catawba Park.
- By 7:30 p.m.: The comedy show starts at Velvet Coupe.
That leaves about an hour between the vendors opening at the park and the comedy starting. You'll have to pick one show, and if you're going to Stonecrest, give yourself extra time near the roundabout.
The Second Half of October Is Mostly City Events
After the 16th, the businesses' calendars thin out and the city's holiday events take over. The city's 2026 schedule groups the Halloween events as Spooktacular Week.
- Tuesday, October 13: National Night Out, 6 to 8 p.m., at 2185 Gold Hill Road.
- Friday, October 16: Dueling Pianos at The Glennon.
- October 25 through 31: Pumpkin Palooza at Living Memorial Gardens, at Tega Cay Drive and Shoreline Parkway. The February schedule listed it starting October 24. Last year, residents carved and registered jack-o'-lanterns, and Parks & Recreation arranged them into a lit evening display.
- Friday, October 30: Movie in the Park.
- Saturday, October 31: Boos and Ghouls Trunk or Treat. In 2025 the movie was at Runde Park and the trunk-or-treat was in the Glennon Center parking lot. Check the city's notice for this year's locations before you go.
If you're reading this on October 4, the Tega Cay Fire Department holds its open house today from 2 to 4 p.m. at 1195 Stonecrest Boulevard. The station is on the same road as Velvet Coupe, which opens at noon on Sundays. After Halloween, the next date on the city calendar is the Christmas tree lighting on December 3.
New gathering places tend to tell you something about where a town is headed. If you've been wondering what Tega Cay's growing evening scene means for your home's value, Carolina Living by Jennifer can run a free home valuation that reflects what's happening in your part of town, from Stonecrest to the lake.
